It is a great pleasure to invite you to the 9th Taipei International Digital Earth Symposium 2014 (TIDES 2014), which will be held from May 26 to May 30, 2014 in Taipei, Taiwan. This conference is one of the most highly acclaimed meetings in the field of digital earth and it takes place biannually in Chinese Culture University, Taipei.
In 1998, former U.S. Vice President Al Gore proposed the term "Digital Earth." In the past ten years, the spatial data infrastructure construction, the application of science and technology related to spatial data, such as Google Earth, Virtue Earth, and many online Geo Browsers have been engaged to our regular daily life. The organization groups from Europe geography and environmental science fields recommend that we need to re-evaluate the perspective of digital earth, and suggest to practice low-carbon living, thinking how to deal with extreme weather, agricultural economics, water resource development, ecological protection, and new energy policies to provide answers. The application of digital technology tools of the earth, practicing Smart City, will focus on (1) digital Earth architecture; (2) global Earth Observation technologies; (3) digital Earth applications.
This time, the organizing committee has chosen " i Earth-From Local to Global " as the main theme for the conference, with a focus on the latest developments and trends, as well as future outlook of the field of digital earth and global observation.
The organizing committee is gearing up for an exciting and informative conference program including keynote speeches, symposia, and workshops on a variety of topics, poster presentations and various social programs for participants from around the world.
